5 AMAZING REASONS WHY FACEBOOK FOUNDER MARK ZUCKERBERG WEARS THE SAME T-SHIRT EVERY DAY.
It is no
longer news that Facebook Founder, Mark Zuckerberg, arrived Nigeria on 30th
August 2016 unannounced, he is an “august visitor” indeed. The 32-year-old facebook
founder surprisingly made a sudden visit and inspection of activities at the
Co-Creation Hub, Yaba Lagos.
Mark
Zuckerberg’s visit was a top secret and nobody was meant to know before his
arrival. It was actually for security reasons but now that he is here, the news
is all over Nigeria and the whole world at large. However, what I found amazing
about Mark Zuckerberg whose Net worth is $54.2Billion and making him the 7th
richest person in the world is the simplicity in his dress mode. He has been
wearing the same T-shirt almost on daily basis and on all occasions except on
Monday 29th August, wearing a piece of suit when he met with Pope
Francis in Italy.
Here are the
5 main reasons why facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg wears the same T-shirt casual
uniform over and over again before.
1. BRAND BUILDING: Wearing the same
thing every day is an essential part of brand-building. Zuckerberg’s grey marl
T-shirt sends a message that Facebook is for the popcorn-eating good-guy
enjoying well-earned downtime. He’s playing the game. Why pretend any
different?
2. Mark Zuckerberg has the highest
disregard for frivolities and silly clamorous pieces of items that add no real
values. He can be up and doing in the shortest possible time with his T-shirt.
3. QUIICK AND FAST DECISION MAKING: The
signature grey T-shirt allows him to make very fast decision because he is not
bothered with color, designer, style, label and

WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK 1ST - 7TH AUGUST: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BREASTFEEDING FOR YOUR BABY?
World
Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from 1 to 7 August to encourage
breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world.
It
commemorates the Innocenti Declaration signed in August 1990 by government
policymakers, WHO, UNICEF and other organizations to protect, promote and
support breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding
is the best way to provide infants with the nutrients they need. WHO recommends
exclusive breastfeeding starting within one hour after birth until a baby is 6
months old. Nutritious complementary foods should then be added while
continuing to breastfeed for up to 2 years or beyond.
This year,
WHO is encouraging people to “Support mums to breastfeed anytime, anywhere,” as
all of society has a role to play in making our communities more
breastfeeding-friendly.
Breast milk
provides the ideal nutrition for infants. It has a nearly perfect mix of
vitamins, protein, and fat -- everything your baby needs to grow. And it's all
provided in a form more easily digested than infant formula. Breast milk
contains antibodies that help your baby fight off viruses and bacteria.
Breastfeeding lowers your baby's risk of having asthma or allergies. Plus,
babies who are breastfed exclusively for the first 6 months, without any
formula, have fewer ear infections, respiratory illnesses, and bouts of
diarrhea. They also have fewer hospitalizations and trips to the doctor.
Breastfeeding
has been linked to higher IQ scores in later childhood in some studies. What's
more, the physical closeness, skin-to-skin touching, and eye

7 BUSINESSES YOU CAN DO AFTER 9-5 HOUR SALARY JOBS.
1.
BUSINESS CONSULTING: Many people do not understand the
concept of business consulting and as a matter of fact, we sometimes believed
that a business must have a physical office space to render services to
prospective clients. I have learnt over time that if you are an expert in a
particular field, clients will never mind to meet with you at any convenient
place other than a corporate office. So, as a business consultant, you can
schedule meetings and inspections till the close of work from your salary jobs.
2.
E-COMMERCE: I carried out a marketing exercise for a client in
June, she has an online store called MARTLOUNGE, what I found amazing about her
is the zeal which she put into the business despite her having a well paid job.
She closes around 5pm and set for a shop at Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos-State where her
store manager handles the many requests of the buyers. This business does not
require you to be on ground from 9am-5pm to be successful in it. Why not give
it a shot today.
3.
INFORMATION MARKETING: In this present age and time,
information and time is a big income earner, I have sold a number of e-books,
reports and information products even in the middle of the night. All that is
needed is the knowledge of a particular problem and the solution crafted in
writing, software or apps. People are always ready to pay for information they
can’t source themselves. Take advantage of the internet after the close of work
to source for trending issues and problems confronting the society, tap into
such niche and provide an e-book, reports and manuals and see how the residual
income flows in.
4.
BECOME A TRAINER: If there is a particular skill, hobby
or leisure activities you are known for, why not make arrangement to teach
people for a small fee. It does not only bring residual income aside your
salary, it also makes you an authority in that field. A dog trainer, music
teachers, fitness instructors, motivational speakers, etc are many of the
ventures that can be done after your regular salary 9am-5pm jobs.
5.
DIGITAL MARKETING SERVICES: At least I have more than 5 facebook
pages I manage even though not all belongs to me, I write articles, drive
traffic and manage these social media accounts and get rewarded afterwards. Most
often than not, I do all these after I have finished the day’s work.
6.
BLOGGING: Blogging is one of the easier methods
for building residual income. Thousands of bloggers create content daily on
topics as diverse as entertainment, health, marriages, arts, education,
lifestyle and more. Through a combination of marketing to subscribers,
affiliate marketing, ad revenue and sponsorships, these bloggers are growing
revenues daily, and you too can have a bite of the pie if you have the
requisite skills. You can blog for just 2-3hours after work and still earn a
decent income.
7.
WEDDING AND EVENT PLANNER: There are more than enough
professional event planners out there than anyone could imagine, and needless
to say, the industry is competitive. At the same time, however, millions of
people host different events each year, so the opportunity to succeed and
profit is available to those willing to get out there and make things happen.
You can become a brand name by just planning and organizing one or two
successful event in the society. You don’t need all the day to become an expert
in event planning.

DO YOU NEED AN EXTRA INCOME: START SMALL AS AN ONLINE BUSINESS ENTREPRENEUR
Thinking
about starting a business to earn extra income but not sure how to begin? The
first step is to find a business idea that you are knowledgeable about, a business
venture that goes with your passion, suits your needs, lifestyle and budget. The
modern day challenge does not allow for sloppiness when it comes to matter of
income generation. The global economy is at the moment witnessing shortfalls
here and there, a single source of income is not enough to cater for the
never-ending needs and aspirations of the ordinary people and the more reason
to engage in extra-activities to augment your salary or current earnings.
I started
trying my hands on some online business even before I tendered my resignation
letter in 2009, I was into paypal business and some other browsing tweaks at
that period, however, being an online entrepreneur is very pleasing but not
everyone can become one. One of the fastest and simplest ways to become a
successful entrepreneur is by working online either through a home-based
entrepreneur business or from your current paid job via your PC, Phones and
other internet enabled devices.
See also....http://hollalaycan.blogspot.com.ng/2016/06/the-honest-truth-on-small-business.html
Firstly, you
need to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses. After the evaluation, you can
now determine if you can manage your own online business. Aside from the
evaluation process, you must know how to plan, organize, staff, and control.
These are your responsibilities as an entrepreneur. You should be able to work
alone because now you're the boss and all business decisions will be made by
you.
Some say
that online businesses can be run without many problems. Well, they are very
wrong because even with an online business, you have to deal with certain
business problems and risks. You can't eliminate such risks because that goes
hand in hand with any business undertaking, both for online and offline
businesses. However, you can reduce the risks that you're bound to deal with in
the future by choosing the best home-based entrepreneur business that will work
for you.
Entrepreneurs
are known to be self-starters. Organizing your time is a difficult task but if
you want to run a home-based online business, you should be able to do it.
Remember, you don’t have a boss that you can rely on. This is your business and
you have to be responsible for it at all times.
Related article...http://hollalaycan.blogspot.com.ng/2016/05/7-most-important-guidelines-for-first.html
Running your
own business would also mean that you have to deal with different kinds of
persons. You will surely encounter demanding customers, moody vendors, and an
unreliable staff. To become a successful home-based business entrepreneur, you
should know how to deal with them individually. You should know the peculiarity
of every person that you encounter so that you can address them and the situation
correctly.
Running an
online business is all about your attitude and character. According to some
experts who conducted researches about the characteristics of entrepreneurs,
there are certain traits that an entrepreneur should possess. As mentioned
earlier, entrepreneurs

MY OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR AKINWUNMI AMBODE: WHY YOU CAN NOT JAIL STREET HAWKERS/BUYERS FROM JULY 1ST 2016
“The opposite of
poverty is not wealth. In too many places, the opposite of poverty is justice.”
― Bryan Stevenson
I am duty-bound
to write this open letter to you because of the enormous and utmost regard I have
for you as a person. To begin with, I wish to acknowledge that the way you are
going about the CONTINUITY agenda in Lagos-State, Tinubu and Fashola combined
together will not add up to your milestone achievement even if you do just one
term in office. The undeniable reality is that some people may not like your
approach to governance but as for many of us social crusaders who is conversant
with Lagos economy, your style is what fits a state as cosmopolitan as
Lagos-State.
To set the
record straight, whoever says the government is the biggest employer of labour
is naïve and a big joker for that matter, the STREET to me is the biggest
employer of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labour force, in my almost 4
decades of existence and knowledge about street trading, I have come to realize
that countries where inequality is institutionalized, where some people get
richer more quickly, while others are getting poorer at a faster pace, where such poor people are increasingly
marginalized and debased, there is bound to be the culture of street trading
and other social struggle. Street Traders or Hawkers are the very poor, the
people who are continuously driven away from their source of livelihood in the
name of social transformation and left with little or no option of survival
than the street. Ever since I was born in Mushin LGA of Lagos State in 1978,
and growing up in Lagos State all through my cradle to adolescents, from school
days to career at the bank and ultimately till this present day as a family
man, I have never seen a government so insensitive to the plight of the
downtrodden and poor masses on the lower rung of the social ladder as the
present crop of administrators we have at the various level of governance in
Nigeria.
Take for
instance the issue of states owing workers salaries for several months while
the Governors in such states keep billions in their personal bank accounts,
only about 5 states are said to be solvent enough to discharge their financial
obligations and of such state is Lagos State, where opportunity to become a
Governor is 8/10, where the prospect of an hawker to become a commissioner in
the state government is not a tall dream, Lagos state is the only
multi-cultural capital of AFRICA as continent. A state adjudged the FIRST and
BEST in so many ramifications, perhaps, the fastest growing MEGA city in AFRICA
and also competing with the fastest in the world at large. My dear Governor
Ambode, you are an exception to those administrators I refer to because you
promptly pay workers salary, provide social measures to ease the sufferings of
the masses and also attract big investment opportunities to Lagos-State as
whole but something dangerous is about to happen if not nipped in the bud and
that is the issue of ban on street trading and hawking in Lagos-State. STREET
TRADING and HAWKING is one of the most significant culture of Lagos State that
set it apart from any other cities of the world and for those of us born, bread
and buttered in Lagos State, we have imbibed the culture of buying and selling
on the street to such an extent that, we stop at any point on the road to buy
our favorite Gala, soft-drinks, household items, newspapers, books, phones and
accessories and many other items and this way of life brings smile to the faces
of both the buyers and the street hawkers you want to castrate.
However,
this common culture is set to be wiped out in order to create another class
struggle in our DREAM LAND, Lagos-State. My dear Governor Ambode, you are set incur the
wrath of POSTERITY if you carry out your threat to expunge completely the ART
of street trading without providing alternative source of LIVING and INCOME to
the teeming unemployed members of the STREET HAWKERS UNION in Lagos-State
because these were the pool of people on whose mandate you won your election as
the governor, these were the set of people who stayed under the sun while the
ELITE and UPPER CLASS lounge in their cozy apartments listening and watching
the street hawkers/buyers casting that genuine ballot for you as a Governor.
These very set of people usually abandons their wares, trek with you on your
campaign train in order to show unwaivered support for your candidacy during
the gubernatorial election in 2015, and it was not their first time doing so as
they have done so for your predecessors Babatunde Raji Fashola and Asiwaju Bola
Ahmed Tinubu himself, why do you want to pay them back with tears and sorrow?
Mahatma
Gandhi said…..” A Nation’s Culture Resides In The Hearts And Soul Of Its People”
Since the
beginning of this current CHANGE ERA dispensation, I have watched gleefully how
you have turned things around in Lagos-State with your CONTINUITY agenda, the
way you have constituted your cabinet shows it is not business as usual, we
have witness tremendous change in LASTMA, KAI, Government agencies and parastatals,
my greatest admiration was the launching of OFFICE OF OVERSEAS AFFAIRS AND
INVESTMENT (LAGOS GLOBAL), with that move I truly believed Lagos-State is
headed for a top spot in the comity of mega cities of the world. However, your
laudable policies is set to be dented by
one social policy about to be set in motion, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, you announced recently that
you are set to kick in motion for the enforcement on the ban on street hawking
in Lagos-State, why this time when frustration is written all over the people’s
faces, abi you don’ read newspaper ni?
My Governor Sir,
you made the announcement during an interview with TVC, a media outfit owned by
your political godfather Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu where you stated that anyone
caught hawking in the street of Lagos will be prosecuted. The prosecution will
extend to the hawkers and their customers who will either get a fine of N90,
000 or a 6-month jail term. Last year, you directed the Task Force on
Environmental Sanitation and Other Special Offences to carry out full
enforcement of the law restricting street trading in the metropolis, despite
the fact that it is not a bad decision but the timing I suppose is not right.
You
expressed your concern about the resurgence of street trading in major areas of
the state, noting that not only does street trading constitute an environmental
nuisance, it also pose a security threat to citizens. And that an existing law
in the state prohibits street trading, you therefore urges those interested in
doing business to seek for space in the various modern markets redeveloped by
the state government to enhance business activities. Where on earth will these
peasants get the ‘OVER THE MOON RENTAL FEES’ in the various modern markets in
Lagos-State? Let us fear God and be reasonable with the poor people, the only
connecting place between the RICH and the POOR is the street, why do you want
to drive them away from the street?
However, My
Governor Sir, you have not stated if there is any plan to alleviate the
suffering of the mostly indigent street hawkers, whose daily living depends on
hawking along the highways and streets of Lagos. Some days ago, an angry mob of
hawkers vandalized several BRT buses in the Maryland area after a female hawker
was crushed to death by one of the buses. The hawker was killed while she was running

HOW TO QUIT SMOKING FOR REAL: MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Quitting
smoking is not an easy task but with a strong WILL coupled with sheer
determination the habit could be forgone and never revisited again. I had
cultivated the habit of not smoking at all during the Ramadan fasting periods
even before I quit the act indefinitely, there was always the resolution not
to go back to the chimney culture after the end of Ramadan fasting but the
innate urge and social inclinations takes center stage in that ultimate
decision to quit smoking for real . Even
after you stop smoking, there are quite a few physical and neurological
symptoms your body goes through.
Depression is also among the most common
negative effects of quitting smoking.
Catchy
slogans make people mindful of the need to stop smoking because of its
life-threatening consequences on health. There are a number of memories and
habits connected with smoking, for instance, some folks start their day in the
toilet with a stick of cigarette while answering the nature’s call. I was a
victim of this entrapment for some years in the bachelorhood world where
freedom to exhibit exuberance is absolute and unlimited.
Now that
we've seen the psychological unwanted side effects of stopping smoking, let's
also take a look at physical ones. Stopping smoking is the start of the program
that may help cleanse the body after many years of toxin development. Smoking
causes buildup of toxins within the body particularly in the lungs. Once
somebody quits smoking, the body attempts to eradicate the damaging chemicals
which might have accumulated overtime. Your lungs begin to clear out mucus and
other smoking debris, whilst carbon

7 Top Revealing Secrets On How Best To Conquer Fear of Business Start-ups
I have
encountered many obstacles in the last 7 years when I took a dive in the
entrepreneurship pool in order to grow my small business idea to a brand name
of my dream. At some point, I have been rejected and my proposal turned down
many a times, not because my idea is neither fantastic nor needed but rather,
maybe it was not just my luck. However, I have also had cause to secure
contracts where I least expected and sometimes those opportunities arrived on a
platter of gold. From my personal experiences and research, I have identified
some limitations often faced by start-up businesses and entrepreneurs and these
are the recipe to overcome such fear:
1. START ON A SMALL SCALE: To overcome
business fear well ahead of time, it is usually more advisable to start your
company on a little scale and gradually figure out ways to expand the exact
same without wasting more cash on wrong resources. If you don't get to a
greater degree, you will lose the chance for further business. In regards to
your own business you don't want fear since it will prevent you from stepping
from the comfort zone and also you won't have the capacity to grow. When it
comes to second example of what the majority of individuals fear in starting an
extra business, it's the financial strain of the startup expenses, regardless
of your financial status.
2. BEGIN YOUR BUSINESS WITH A PROFITABLE
SMALL BUSINESS: No matter your sort of business, if you're in sales, you may be
required to do a little bit of form of `Prospecting' for leads and customers.
Be certain to identify a profitable small business model, and then you have
limited your exposure to risk or loss. This is sometime applicable if you're
into a small business opportunity. Fear begins in your thoughts and you have to
employ your mind to conquer fear particularly if you desire to increase sales
for your personal business. Selling doesn't have to become a fearful
experience!
3. IDENTIFY YOUR GREATEST FEAR IN
BUSINESS: Many small business owners I've related with had one small business
fears or the other. Small business success is all about realizing the real
fears from the ones which are self-imposed. In truth, it really is subtle and
the majority of people don't recognize this is holding them back from having a
prosperous business and a great life. If your inner drive is weaker than the
physical energy propelling your business, there is bound to be apprehension and
this could lead to business failure and eventual shutdown of such business
venture. The final move is to consider the objections which are stopping you
from closing the company.
4. BE READY TO TAKE A PLUNGE: When I
left Gtbank in 2009, I never wished to go back into the banking job for any
reason whatsoever due to so many reasons which are currently manifesting as a
result of economic recession, job insecurity, career growth, delusional bankers
life, etc. The anxiety about success will allow you to avoid taking action to
surely have a thriving business enterprise. Don't forget, small business
success isn't about the amount of times you fail but about how many times you
have overcome the challenges of being a successful business personality.
5. SEEK MENTORING AND TRAINING: I have
lost counts of how many trainings, seminars and business mentoring attended in
the last 10years after my National Youth Service scheme (NYSC) and I still
attend trainings till this very moment despite offering such to people as well.
You need to ask the leaders of your own enterprise whether they have training
along with a proven way that will help build your business. You need to master
a few techniques to boost your communication skills in order to

11 Beneficial Things You Should Know About Dangote Refinery
Is Dangote the messiah we've been
waiting for in Nigeria to end the recurrent fuel crisis?
Will Dangote Refinery increase the
GDP of Nigerian economy?
Can Dangote refinery make Lagos State
the Dubai of Africa?
What will
happen to FG refineries when Dangote finally commences operation in 2019?
With
Dangote’s giant stride and unprecedented investment in the local economy, Nigeria
will be taken away from the record of countries that import petroleum chemicals
and allied products. Besides, Nigeria will be generating and saving an
important quantity of forex that will be earned from the export of petroleum
and petro-chemical products in a not too distant a future. From my trend
analysis, Dangote will edge Mr Bill Gates or whoever is on the top of the
ladder on the forbes list in a very short period after the commencement of
operation in the refinery. Here are 10 things you should know about the Dangote
refinery:
1. JOB CREATION OPPORTUNITIES: Dangote
refinery will create235,000 Jobs when completed. There would
even be a whole lot of indirect employment and empowerment in and around
Lagos-State, people who are into real estates, food supplies, commodities,
dealers of petrochemical products, Government institutions, foreign investors,
oil servicing firms, etc.
2. FOREX
EARNING POTENTIALS: Nigeria would save $17.5 billion in forex earnings from the
project.
3. FIRST
OF ITS KIND: The refinery with 650,000 barrels of crude oil refining capacity
per day is by all standards the largest in the world.
4. RECORD
BREAKING PROJECT: It is the largest single project anywhere in the world – be
it fertilizer, gas pipeline, petrochemical or refinery. This is the largest
single refinery in the world.
5. EXPORT
OPPORTUNITY IN GAS RESOURCES: The gas project from Dangote Plant would add Over
3 billion cubic feet of gas per day to the Nigerian market, meaning that with
the current requirement of about two billion cubic feet of gas per day,
Nigeria’s power sector would improve significantly when the project is finally
completed.
6. ATTRACTION OF FOREIGN
PARTNERSHIP/ALLIANCES: The United States Trade and Development Agency has
signed has a training pact with Dangote Oil Refining Company.
7. MULTIBILLION DOLAR PROJECT: The
Dangote refinery project is worth an estimated $10b usd, more than the nation
yearly budget.
8. 24HOURS STEADY POWER SUPPLY: With
Dangote refinery coming on board, Lagos State can have 24hrs steady power and
electricity supply and this will boost the economic potentials of the state.
9. POPULATION EXPLOSION: Human Population
in Lagos State is bound explode to a

SEASON OF JOB LOSS: HOW TO SURVIVE THE TSUNAMI
The gale of
job losses being witnessed in the country due to the current economic hardship
has caught up with Ecobank Nigeria, which has sacked over 1,040 of its
employees.
The PUNCH
reported on Tuesday that Diamond Bank Plc sacked over 200 members of its
workforce, while FBN Holdings, the parent company of First Bank of Nigeria
Limited, recently said it would prune the number of its employees by 1,000.
Top
officials of the pan-African lender confirmed to our correspondents that the
initial list of those to be sacked had over 1,400, workers but was later reduced
to “a little above 1,000.”

Ecobank
spokespersons declined to comment on the number of workers who were disengaged.
However, the
lender said in a statement that it had converted over 200 outsourced personnel
to permanent employees as part of its drive to attract and reward talent, while
also repositioning for improved efficiency.
In line with
the recognition of excellence, the bank also said it had recently implemented a
merit-based pay increase for the top performers across all cadres.
The Managing
Director, Ecobank, Mr. Charles Kie, was quoted as saying that converting
qualified outsourced staff to permanent workers was in line with the bank’s
commitment to developing and growing talent by nurturing its people along their
career paths and giving them access to higher responsibilities.
He said the
bank was resolute that recognizing and rewarding excellence would drive its
goal of achieving exceptional performance in the industry.
Kie said,
“The bank, in its renewed drive for optimal performance, has in addition
realigned certain roles bank wide to ensure improved efficiency. This
necessitates the exits of some staff that were adequately compensated.
“This is in
furtherance of a market repositioning exercise designed to strengthen the
bank’s business across all markets where it operates.”

your house rent rest upon your new business being an instant success. Begin
with what you can manage, monetarily and time-wise, and range up as your
company grows.
2. DISCOVER AND IDENTIFY YOUR AREA OF
SPECIALIZATION: It is better to identify a particular niche market where you
have a competitive edge in terms of skill, expertise and knowledge, most especially
if the business will start online; people are always looking for companies that
focus on their needs or problems. You have to look for a need or something a
particular group of people would like, but cannot get from what your bigger
firms offers and fill this need. Since you cannot compete with the top guys, it
therefore, means you have to discover where the established companies are not
and go into such market. A friend of mine Adebiyi OLanrewaju who owns Fadeex
Express and Logistics started his courier and logistic business 3years ago by

6. DO NOT QUIT. Effective
entrepreneurship needs creativity, power, and the zeal to keep moving when you

yourself along with optimism to obtain beyond the actual ‘No’ as well as
trouble. There is nothing
