BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE:OPEN LETTER TO ENTERTAINERS IN NIGERIA

it is no longer news that the popular Hip-hop group Kc Presh have parted ways, but what led to their break up remain unknown to many of their teeming fans.According to both artist in a 2011 interview granted the media, here is what they had to say about their break-up.

KC: "We've been together for twelve years and we just decided to try our luck as individual acts. Even though we once said its only death that can separate us, but we now want to do things separately, pursue solo careers and know our capabilities, because we have different gifts, talents and flavour. We are not fighting at all; we are still one, only working independent. It's just a strategy. KCEE will be my stage name and I am under a new label called Five Star Music."

Presh: "I decided to go solo because I wanted to explore, not because we had any misunderstanding. KC and I are still friends and brothers. We will always support each other"

However, time has passed after the said interview and both artist have gone on a different sojourn in their musical career. But what actually spurred my curiosity on this matter is not about the popularity which Kcee of Limpopo fame and Pull-Over crooner has enjoyed, neither am i bothered about the long absence of Presh or better still lack of patronage in the entertainment industry which has rendered him(Presh) less relevant, but apparently of the fact that the entertainment industry only tends to identify with rave of the moments.

We have seen so many artists suffer and languish in penury after making fame that does not last a lifetime such as the legacies left by Fela Anikulapo Kuti, evergreen accolade from SUNNY ADE,I.K DAIRO.etc.Kollington Ayinla,a popular fuji musician,Kollington Ayinla in a recent interview with a magazine confessed of his suffering despite all the popularity and fame acquired in the past such that he had once put his property at Alagbado up for sale t take care of his failing health, also we heard of Pa Kasunmu who is bedridden with STROKE and sight problem,i also will not forget Olumide Bakare whose voice is Unique in Nollywood is at the moment not in the limelight due to health issues.Having said a lot about ill-fated calamities befelling Nigerian Artistes,i think its high time a TRUST/ENDOWMENT FUND is established to cater for exigencies as a result of lack of funds, emergencies, empowerment, solidarity purpose, etc to take care of people in this sector of our economy.

Lastly,i will like to appeal to Kcee the Limpopo crooner to extend a hand of fellowship to Phresh whom they started out together in the popular Star Quest Talent Hunt Show where they both won the first edition,i have had encounter with Presh on few occassions and am not too impressed with the condition i met him, must his friend(s) in the entertainment industry wait for people to tell them what to do about his present condition.I know he lives around Alagbole after Ojodu but hopping from one okada to another marwa is not ideal for somebody of his calibre. Kcee could just lift the spirit of friendship once more and let Presh also rediscover himself.
Note:This write up is not to ridicule the personality of Presh but to bring into perspective what goes around in the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
